Counselling & Psychotherapy
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 30th August 2026
This page has two parts. Part A covers your use of this website. Part B sets out how I work, so you know what to expect before you get in touch. Part B is a summary. If we start working together, we will agree a fuller written contract between us at or before the first session, and that agreement takes precedence over anything on this page.
Part A: Using this website
1. Who runs this site
This website is operated by Jessica Brichto, a self-employed psychotherapist and counsellor, Registered Member MBACP (membership number 421292).
-
Email: hello@jessicabrichto.com
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
2. This site is not therapy, and it is not advice
The information on this site is general and is provided to help you decide whether to get in touch. It is not clinical, medical, legal or psychological advice, and reading it does not create a therapeutic relationship between us.
Sending an enquiry, or my replying to it, does not mean I have taken you on as a client. That only happens once we have spoken, agreed to work together, and put a written agreement in place.
3. This site is not an emergency service
I work by appointment and I am not able to respond to urgent messages. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, do not use the contact form.
-
Emergency: call 999
-
Urgent medical or mental health help: call 111 and select the mental health option, or contact your GP
-
Samaritans: call 116 123, free, 24 hours a day
-
Shout: text SHOUT to 85258, free, 24 hours a day
4. The contact form
Please keep first enquiries brief. Give me enough to understand what you are looking for and how to reach you. An online form is not a secure or private place for detailed personal history.
If you give me a phone number, I will assume I may call or message you unless you tell me otherwise. Let me know if you would prefer I did not leave a voicemail, or if there are times that are not safe for me to call.
How I handle what you send me is set out in the Privacy Policy.
5. Content and copyright
The text, photographs and design on this site belong to me, or are used with permission. You are welcome to read, print or share pages for your own personal use. Please do not copy, republish or reuse the content commercially without asking.
6. Links to other sites
Where I link to other organisations, it is because I think they may be useful. I do not control those sites and I am not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.
7. Availability and accuracy
I try to keep this site accurate and available, but I cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free. I may change or remove content at any time.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, I am not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on general information published on this site.
Part B: How I work
This is a summary of the practical arrangements. The full terms will be agreed with you directly before we start.
9. First contact
The first conversation is a free 15 minute call, with no obligation on either side. It is a chance to talk about what brings you here and to get a sense of whether working together feels right. If either of us thinks someone else would be a better fit, I will say so and, where I can, suggest where else to look.
10. Sessions
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly at the same time each week. Fortnightly sessions are possible where that suits better, and we can talk about what pace works for you.
Sessions take place in person in Deptford / Greenwich or online by secure video call. If you are meeting me online, please arrange to be somewhere private and uninterrupted, with a reliable internet connection, for the full 50 minutes.
There is no fixed number of sessions. We will review the work together as we go, and how long it continues is something we decide between us.
11. Fees and payment
-
Individual sessions: £85 per 50 minute session
-
Sessions booked in blocks of six or more: £75 per session
-
A limited number of reduced fee places are available for people on a low income. Please ask.
Payment is due in advance of each session or at the time of the session, or booking for block bookings.
I review my fees annually and will give you at least one month’s notice of any change.
Block bookings are paid in advance and are valid for 12 months. Unused sessions in a block are non-refundable.
12. Cancellations and missed sessions
Your session time is reserved for you. If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give me at least 48 hours notice and I will not charge you.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, and sessions you do not attend, are charged in full.
If you arrive late, we will finish at the scheduled time.
If I need to cancel, I will give you as much notice as I can and will not charge you. I will tell you in advance about planned breaks and holidays.
13. Your right to cancel
If we agree to work together without having met in person, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If you would like sessions to start within that 14 day period, I will ask you to confirm that you want them to begin straight away. If you then cancel, you will still be charged for any sessions that have already taken place.
14. Contact between sessions
I check messages during working hours, Monday to Friday, and will normally reply within two working days. I do not offer support between sessions and I am not available outside those hours. Please see section 3 for what to do in an emergency.
Anything substantial is better brought into a session than handled by email.
15. Confidentiality
What you tell me is confidential, with a small number of exceptions: where there is a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, where a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, where the law requires disclosure, or where I need to defend a legal claim or professional complaint. I will talk to you first wherever it is safe to do so.
I discuss my work in regular clinical supervision, which every BACP member is required to do. My supervisor is bound by the same confidentiality.
I keep brief written notes. The Privacy Policy explains how these are stored, who can see them, and how long they are kept.
16. Endings
Therapy works better when it ends deliberately rather than by drifting away. If you want to stop, please bring it to a session so we can use the time to finish well. I will do the same if I think the work has reached its natural end or that I am not the right person to continue with.
I ask for two weeks’ notice where possible, but you are free to end at any time.
17. Professional standards
I am a Registered Member of BACP (MBACP, number 421292) and I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I hold professional indemnity insurance [with [INSURER]] and I am in regular clinical supervision.
18. If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with anything about our work, please tell me. I would much rather hear it directly and try to put it right.
If that does not resolve it, you can make a complaint to BACP under their Professional Conduct Procedure. Details are at bacp.co.uk.
If your concern is about how I have handled your personal information, section 12 of the Privacy Policy explains how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
19. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales.
